Peace! I’m an Afro-Indigenous, Diasporic poet, gardener, food enthusiast, and aspiring good ancestor. I am building bridges, portals, and sanctuaries as I seek to cultivate thriving climate futures. To counteract the confounding health impacts of modern food systems that perpetuate illness for my communities and Mama Earth, I started Get Free Food to gather people around better food, with hopes that we can reconnect to nourishing lifeways and realize alternative, healthy food systems.

Mission
Statement
We address the confounding environmental, social, and health challanges in the Bay Area through the power of joyful, accessible community gatherings and creative activations featuring locally sourced food. We aim to be a beacon of food sovereignty by building bridges to resources, skills, and connections.
Vision Statement
We envision a food movement where everyone can find belonging — place by place, moment by moment, meal by meal. In the way of Toni Cade Bambara, we must make the good food revolution irresistible.

&
At Get Free Food, we believe in food as medicine as a right. We recognize the status quo that leaves so many people without nourishing food options while degrading and destroying the only land we have to sustain us and future generations. We meet the challenge by providing free food experiences that embody food systems transformation, offering healing to both the body and the land while tasting phenomenal.

CCESSIBILITY
At Get Free Food, we believe everyone should have the agency to choose from fresh, tasty, chemical-free food options. We host a range of specialized events that aim to be barrier-free, culturally relevant, and thoughtfully designed to accommodate a spectrum of needs and preferences. We work especially with and for those often excluded. We also advocate on the local level for affordable fresh food and land access.
